About Me(di)

Who? Why?

Hey there! I'm Jeff, and I go by Medi online. I'm a junior in college majoring in computer science and applied mathematics,
but what I really care about doing is making creative stuff. I've dipped my toes into many kinds of projects over the years,
but I've always had trouble keeping everything straight. It's weird to try to write a story while also making videos
and while trying streaming and while trying other stuff (like making a website). That's why this whole site exists:
for me to organize all the things I do!

I'll be going into depth about each type of project that I'm doing, as well as some inspirations
and recommedations from each field, but if you're looking for links, then just check these out:

Videos

I started making videos when I was in junior high on a borrowed copy of Sony Vegas. Pretty much everything I made from
then until a year ago was pretty bad. I'm hoping to amp the production quality up as well as try a lot more stuff now!
I'm hoping to create video essays (probably about video games but not exclusively), comedic parodies or gags,
edits of other content (like YTPs), and a bunch of weird stuff that I'll upload with no warning.

I wouldn't have gotten into video-making if it weren't for the countless people who inspire me, as well. Some notable examples include:
Ahoy, BedBananas, Brian David Gilbert, Brutalmoose, Jacob Geller, jacksfilms, jan Misali, NakeyJakey, Scott The Woz, and more.
Some of those names are already familiar to a lot of people, but I thought it was important to cover all of my potential influences.

I also enjoy other channels like Drew Gooden, Polygon, Vsauce, videogamedunkey, and a lot more.
They don't have as direct of an influence on me, but I still appreciate their existence.

Streams

I've always enjoyed stream highlights on YouTube just as much as other gaming commentary videos, but it wasn't until a
couple years ago that I really started getting into actual livestreams on Twitch. The streamer to do it for me was Jerma985,
who is so special that he gets this mention all to himself. He is my favorite internet creator, period.
I can't imagine the sheer influence (and damage) that this man has done to me.

But besides him, I enjoy groups like Vinesauce, in which my favorites are Vinny, (Vargskelethor) Joel, and Jabroni Mike.
I also love RTVS, especially Wayne and Scorpy's streams. They consistently make streams that scare me both in terms of quality and content.

But why am I getting into streaming? I dunno. I just want to create things that are as weird and funny as some of the streams I've seen.
I can't guarantee that it'll be the most approachable streams to outsiders, but I'll try to never make them boring.

Writing

I'm no good at drawing, so I had to settle for a lot of writing instead. When I wanted to be creative and I didn't have a
borrowed copy of Sony Vegas to make terrible videos, I had to resort to the ol' pen and paper. I've written about a few dozen
stories, short stories, personal essays, critiques/reviews, fanfictions, etc. over the past 10 years. Most of them never reached past
page one or two, but I've never given up the hobby entirely.

For a few years now, I've had the desire to create some hybrid amalgamation of the formative stories I read as a kid and the
corny shonen anime I've watched as a teen. A large reason of why I created this website was to host that amalgamation.
I've never been able to write a large story past a few pages, but I think I'm ready to finally commit to the challenge.

I realize that keeping an entire story on Google Docs doesn't make for engaging content, so I'm hoping to take advantage of a slightly
less boring format. When it's ready and goes up on this website, it'll be the first few chapters. After that, I'll be hoping
for about a chapter a week. Things will obviously vary (I'm a college student who also works on other personal projects),
but the momentum of the initial push should hopefully be enough to carry me to the finish.

Also, I do have a few short stories I could port over here. Some of them were only seen by like, one person, so it'd be nice to
show them off a bit more. No promises, though.

If I'm talking about writing that I like, I could pull from every type of media to discuss that. So, I'll just keep it simple and
recommend a story that also uses a website format to deliver the writing: 17776 by Jon Bois.
